When the next hurricane comes, your roof either holds — or it costs you your home. Legacy Fortified Roofing builds storm-hardened roofs for Louisiana and Mississippi homeowners, engineered to the IBHS FORTIFIED™ standard. Learn about the Louisiana Fortify Homes Program grant. Backed by Legacy Construction and 30+ years of Gulf Coast craftsmanship.
Storm-hardened residential roofing, re-roofs, and premium asphalt and metal systems for homeowners across Louisiana and Mississippi.
TPO, EPDM, modified bitumen, metal, and hybrid roofing systems for retail, industrial, hospitality, and multi-family properties across the Gulf Coast.
Developed by the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS), FORTIFIED is the only roofing standard engineered specifically to survive hurricanes, hail, and high winds — and the only one insurers reward with premium discounts.
Enhanced roof deck attachment, sealed roof deck, impact-rated shingles, and locked-down edges. Stops rain from destroying your home when shingles fail. Meets the IBHS FORTIFIED Roof standard.
Everything in FORTIFIED Roof plus reinforced gable ends, chimney bracing, and locked-down soffits and attic vents. Whole-envelope hardening.
Silver + continuous load path from roof to foundation. The strongest residential roofing standard in the country. Maximum hurricane resilience.
Consistency isn't a promise — it's a process. Here's how we guarantee your roof is installed the same way as the last one that survived the storm.
One roof or one thousand — same spec sheet, same fasteners, same photo audits. Calibrated pneumatic nail guns drive every fastener at the same depth and force — more consistent than hand-nailing, verified on every job. Every step of your install is documented in CompanyCam so you see exactly what your neighbors down the street can't: the layers, the fasteners, and the quality checks under your shingles. Technology is how we guarantee your install matches the one that survived the last hurricane.
Every technology on this list exists for one reason: to remove human error from the process, and put verifiable evidence in your hands at closeout.
Louisiana's Fortify Homes Program (LFHP) is administered by the Louisiana Department of Insurance. It's a lottery-based grant of up to $10,000 toward a FORTIFIED roof upgrade. Selection is random — no contractor can guarantee it. We can guarantee we'll be ready when you're selected.
Note: LFHP is a state grant program administered by LDI — not an insurance claim. Homeowners apply and submit documentation directly to LDI. Legacy does not file, negotiate, adjust, or otherwise assist with insurance claims on behalf of homeowners.
Register at ldi.la.gov/fortifyhomes. Takes 10 minutes. Do this today — before the next round opens.
Registration rounds open unpredictably. Email notification is the only reliable signal.
Windows last ~5 days. Upload homestead exemption, driver's license, insurance dec page (wind coverage required), flood policy if in a FEMA SFHA.
LDI notifies selected applicants within 2-4 weeks. If not selected, register again next round.
15-day window to schedule. Independent third-party — not your contractor. Evaluator fees are out of pocket (~$500).
Required by LDI. Homeowners must obtain bids from three LFHP-approved contractors and submit them to the program for review.
⚠ Starting work before written acceptance auto-disqualifies you. This is the #1 way homeowners lose the grant.
Sealed roof deck, ring-shank fasteners, wind-rated coverings. Evaluator returns to verify and submits documentation to IBHS.
LFHP pays us directly. You receive the FORTIFIED certificate from IBHS. What you do with that certificate — including any Act 533 discount inquiries with your carrier — is between you and your insurance agent.
Louisiana law under Act 533 (2024) requires admitted insurers to file actuarially justified premium discounts for FORTIFIED-designated homes. The discount applies to the hurricane portion of your homeowners policy — typically the largest single component of a Gulf Coast premium.
Roof systems built to withstand Gulf Coast hurricanes, high winds, and hail — using materials and methods aligned with the IBHS FORTIFIED™ Roof standard.
